This week we talk about the political philosophies of King Mosiah, how we can make our communities better by being kind, sneaky Nehor and his incorrect doctrine, and how cool I think it is that we have a lay ministry.

2 Nephi 26:29–31;

Nehor's people vs The People of God



Nehor and his followers:
  • Supported with money
  • Costly apparel
  • Beat up old people
  • Love the vain things of the world
  • Preached for the sake of riches and honor
  • Pretended to actually believe it? (17 Nevertheless, they durst not alie, if it were known, for fear of the law, for liars were punished; therefore they pretended to preach according to their belief; and now the law could have no power on any man for bhis belief.)
  • Didn’t break any major laws
  • But did persecute those in the church

The people of God:
  • Stood fast in the faith
  • Steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of God
  • Patience in persecution
  • Priests still labored
  • Priest didn’t esteem himself better than the people
  • Did impart of their substance
  • Took care of the poor, the needy, the sick, the afflicted
  • Did not wear costly apparel but were neat and comely
  • Continual peace (even in persecution)
  • Began to be exceedly rich
  • "They did not send away any who were bnaked, or that were hungry, or that were athirst, or that were sick, or that had not been nourished; and they did not set their hearts upon criches; therefore they were dliberal to all, both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, whether out of the church or in the church, having no erespect to persons as to those who stood in need."
